Klarna CEO reveals they power 2 million transactions each day on Yahoo Finance

Klarna’s CEO and founder, Simon Siemiatkowski, has been going on a bit of a media blitz to promote Klarna’s new AI powered shopping assistant. He recently appeared on Yahoo Finance and dropped a bit of an interested tidbit and stat about Klarna.

if you look at Klarna obviously today, with 150 million consumers and doing 2 million transactions a day, we also have a big kind of mix of online and in-store transactions and also seeing both debit and credit.

I didn’t realize Klarna was doing that type of Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) loan originations everyday all around the world. I mean 2 million transactions is a lot and 150 million customers is quite impressive numbers.

This means that that the company is doing roughly 730 million transactions on the Klarna payment network each year. If you take 2 million transactions and multiply by 365 days a year. This is just a rough napkin math estimate though, as of course daily transactions fluctuate.

This shows how quickly the BNPL has grown and continues to get bigger. Consumers like having alternatives to using credit cards for making purchase for goods and products such as BNPL.
